"Remember"

We had a really good week this week! We were able to work everyday and were lucky we got to double work twice! We were able to accomplish a lot. We had an investigator family come to church and they loved it! The kids went to school with some kids in the Branch and we didn’t even know that so they were great fellow shippers. It was awesome.  Anteesha the 14 year old girl read the first few chapters in the Book of Mormon and she is good friends with one of the young men.
I am really excited for the Branch, people that have just recently started coming back have been getting callings that will help keeping them coming. We had the boundary change meeting yesterday, it seems like it is quite the process to get permission for all of that stuff. The work is going forward here in the mission. There was a ward that split and a branch was created. We gained about 3 or so active families from the Madison ward and will add them to the branch, it will be fun to be with them again. They will help us out here so much!!

We went to 3 different meals for Thanksgiving, food in The South is just really really weird haha. Everything is so oily and fried. There were no mashed potatoes, corn, some didn’t even have turkey. It was interesting. They mix their stuffing with corn bread and have really gross greens. They smell terrible I couldn’t eat any because of it. haha but there was also some really good stuff!

As I was studying Helaman 5 today it says the word "remember" 14 times in the first 14 verses. We have the opportunity to go each Sunday to "remember" the Savior and the promises we made to keep his commandments and to serve him. In the words of President Kimball "Never "forget" a sacrament meeting”.

Elder Larsen

Power in The BOM!

Hello everyone! This week was quite the week! Despite all the meetings and the transfer we were able to see some cool things. We were able to teach LaKendra a few times and read the Book of Mormon with her.  She came to church and enjoyed it!  As much crazy stuff that goes on in the world there is power in the Book of Mormon.  She says she always has a lot going on but when we read the Book of Mormon she says she always feels good.

As I was studying this week I came across this verse in D&C 84:56-58

56 And this condemnation resteth upon the children of Zion, even all.
57 And they shall remain under this condemnation until they repent and remember the new covenant, even the Book of Mormon and the former commandments which I have given them, not only to say, but to do according to that which I have written
58 That they may bring forth fruit meet for their Father’s kingdom; otherwise there remaineth a scourge and judgment to be poured out upon the children of Zion.

Remember how important the Book of Mormon is and as we apply the principles in it we will be able to bring forth fruit meet for our Fathers Kingdom.

Being with Elder Smith has been fun! He is 24 but still pretty similar to me, he played sports in High School and was a sports reporter for the Calgary Flames before he came on his mission. He has had to try really hard but he talked me into going skiing in Canada;) haha!  After transfers we had MLC which was changed to be just 1 day instead of 2 so it cut out a lot of planning time which was super nice!  We are heading to Gulfport this weekend!
MLC- November!
Crazy story for the week!- Last night at about 7:00 we were trying to visit a less active that we had a set appointment with.  We had a member meet us there, she ended up not being home and as we were walking back to the car the member started telling us that we really shouldn’t be in the neighborhood we were in at that time of night and mid sentence… "BANG BANG BANG BANG" There goes someone shooting there gun!! haha.

Welcome to Jackson.

Love you all!!

Blessed with My Testimony!

Hey everyone! This week has been a little crazy! We picked up the new missionaries yesterday and got everyone in there new areas today for transfers. It has gone pretty smooth. This week I got my new companion, Elder Smith. He is from Calgary, Canada and is 24 years old. I’m gonna learn how to play some hockey! We will be rocking together for the next little while!

While it was Elder Vests last week we were able to do a lot of good teaching and see some cool miracles. Elder Vest is very talented at speaking and talking to people. It has been fun to learn from him! We were able to see some progression in a lady named Lakendra. She is someone that we met a couple weeks ago and have been reading the Book of Mormon with her. Its been awesome to see the Book of Mormon change peoples life. Its great to understand the principles that it teaches.

While we were with the new missionaries from the airport and having a testimony meeting with them, I was thinking about testimonies and how unique and personal they are to each person individually. The scripture came to mind in D&C 62:3
"Nevertheless, ye are blessed, for the testimony which ye have borne is recorded in heaven for the angels to look upon; and they rejoice over you, and your sins are forgiven you."

I was thinking back and remembered an experience that we had at a family reunion at Bear Lake a long time ago. I remember sitting at Pickleville Playhouse because we missed church or something and we went around the circle bearing our testimonies together. I was thinking about that experience, and then where I am now. My testimony is still mine but over time and through experiences I have been able to grow and strengthen my testimony and that is awesome!

Love you all!! I hope you are all doing well!:)
