Transfer Week = Another Busy Week!

Hello everyone! This past week was really good!  We were able to finish transfers up and were able to see some cool miracles. I don’t have a lot of time today but one of the highlights of the week was that Gary was able to come to a ladies baptism on Saturday!  He was able to come and feel the spirit there and see what it would be like. Hopefully he will continue to progress. As I have been thinking lately the gospel continually leads us to becoming something. It should help us be converted inwardly, with pure actions, thoughts, intents, and desires.

Romans 2:29
29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and
circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not
in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

Things are going well here!  We have been super busy! Elder Vest is my new companion, Elder Beckstrom is leaving on Wednesday to go home.  Elder Vest will be fun!! He goes home in 6 weeks though!  We will only be able to email here for about 30 minutes and then we have to go pick up the new missionaries and then be with them today.  This week we have MLC as well so it will be 2 weeks in a row with really limited proselyting. But come Saturday we will be ready to go!

Love you all and hope you are all doing well!!

We Gon Get the Gold!!

Hello everyone!

I hope everyone is doing well! Here in Mississippi its hot, humid, hot, the food is good, people like football, and its hot! So lately we have had a lot of good grillin' from people having BBQs as we walk down the street and we’ve gotten all the SEC football and NFL updates as we go door to door.  We have had some pretty funny experiences lately!  We were teaching a guy named James Spann and you could tell something was a little off with him from the beginning. We later found out that he had had a stroke in his lifetime but, we were talking and he was asking a lot of really good questions. He was asking about things like the after life and what happens to us and how we get into heaven and things like that. My genius companion Elder Beckstrom was relating the 3 kingdoms of glory to  gold, silver, and bronze and told him that what he needed to do to get there. James ran with that and the rest of the time we were talking to him he was like "Uh huh! We gon get the gold!" It was so funny! Of course Elder Beckstrom went baptist on him and started hyping him up and the last thing James said before we left was "We gon get the gold!  Michael Phelps ain’t got nothin" as he was yelling this Elder Beckstrom was running down the driving fist pumping hahahahah. It was pretty dang funny, but maybe you just had to be in the moment idk. We also had a 4 year old girl come up to us as we were tracting and say “Ya'll white." haha what the heck?? Hopefully we don’t get shot!  There is a little taste of Mississippi for you!

We had a really good week spiritually too. We were able to see some progression with Gary as we prayed to know what we should teach him and he text us after the lesson and said "Good lesson tonight. Things are starting to come together." We made contact with a part member family that we were teaching about a month ago and they even came to church. It was a really good week!

I hope you are all doing well! Thanks for your support!

Successful Exchange Due to Poor Road Conditions!

This week was a fun one! We had the chance to go on 2 exchanges this week!

On Wednesday we were on exchanges with Monroe. It was fun to be with them, both Elder Rankin and Elder Vest are really outgoing and good with talking to people. So funny story, on Thursday morning Elder Vest and I were going to visit people and we saw a news lady on the side of the road and she was setting up a camera so we decided that we would go and talk to her to see if she would be willing to interview us or something. We walked up to her and started talking to her and she ended up asking us if she could interview us which was pretty funny!  We got to talk about the poor road conditions in Jackson, MS hahaha!!  It was a successful exchange because of that haha…
Elder Vest and I made the Nightly News!

On Friday we headed down to Gulfport and were able to be with Elder Bennett and Elder Bledsoe. We went and contacted people in an outlet mall for awhile and that was fun!  On Saturday morning we went to the beach with a few other missionaries and played beach volleyball, that was pretty fun as well!  It made me want to be in Cali haha!

Beach Volleyball Fun in Gulfport!

We headed home and had a lesson with Gary, it was a good lesson, lots of sharing opinions and so its hard to teach when that happens. We had a miracle happen on Sunday when Gary ended up coming to church!  It was so nice to have him come. After we went and helped him with some things around his house and he said that coming to church helped him a lot. He said that he feels like this is more and more true when he acts and does different things. Hopefully we can keep up this good streak with him!!

Things have been good this week, this week went by so fast!  Mississippi has been good, luckily it is starting to cool down a little bit!  Utes win!!! I heard it was pretty ugly!

Thank you for all your prayers and support!
Love you all!

Good Week for Finding!

Hello everyone!

This week has been good!  We had MLC(Mission Leadership Conference) this week so we were pretty busy with that. Monday-Wednesday we planned for that, and what we were going to teach.

Thursday all the Zone Leaders and Sister Training Leaders came to Jackson and we had them show up at different places so everyone was a little confused haha! Afterwards, we sent them all out to different shopping centers around the Jackson area and had them go and contact people. That was actually pretty fun!  Instead of just talking about missionary work we went out and did it!  Everyone came back with some pretty cool stories!
Saying goodbye to Elder Beclkstrom-Last MLC for him, he's going home.

Friday we taught at MLC and it was a good meeting. Everyone really enjoyed it again.  We went and watched the #1 and #2 HS teams in MS play on Friday night with a recent convert and a member. The stadium was sold out, it was insane! The #1 recruit in MS is Cam Akers he plays QB and is getting offers from every big school in the nation. He was insane!

Saturday we finally had a day when we could work. So we went out and started working, and taught a few good lessons, we had one in the morning with a lady named Anyssa. It’s a cool story how we met her. Last week on Thursday we were tracting and we both decided on this one street in particular so we went there. Elder Beckstrom felt like we needed to be on another street but we just went anyway. Nothing cool happened on Thursday haha, but on Friday when we were tracting again we went to the other street that Elder Beckstrom thought of and knocked on her door. She said that earlier that morning her Professor had given the class an assignment to attend another church service. It was pretty cool cause if we had gone on Thursday night she wouldn’t have received that assignment yet. It was kind of funny!

We were able to go out teaching with President and Sister Olson. President is such a good teacher the spirit is always super strong with both of them! Then we had another cool finding experience! We were driving and just felt we should knock the houses on the side of the main road so we stopped and started knocking. We found a guy who had taken the lessons in Arizona and had been to the Gilbert, AZ temple open house. He is also coaching football at Bellhaven. What a more perfect find than that!

Things have been crazy here, its so dang hot... We have 2 exchanges this week, Monroe coming to Jackson as well as we are going to Gulfport!  We made some good progress with those we did get to teach. Especially Gary. And it was a good week for finding!!! We had some good experiences! Love you all! Have a good week!!:)

Are the UTES going to beat BYU?!  It could be an ugly weekend for our companionship haha!

Thanks for everything!  Love you all!
