Trip to New Orleans?!

Hey Mom!! I hope I will get a chance to email later today! I am doing well, I am super excited to get out and just do missionary work! I am going to Slidell and will be with Elder Suapaia. I am super excited, like I cant even explain haha. Our apartment is super nice and there is a nice gym in it. Hopefully it will be a fun area! I will email more when I get the chance.

Love you!!!

Talk to you more later!!!:)

I am heading down to Slidell. 10 minutes away from New Orleans. If I get sent home, that is why, I will have taken a trip right over the bridge to New Orleans haha. Jk but we will have to come back!!

The meeting with Elder Holland was really cool, he is a very spiritual man and is very passionate. I got to sit right next to him on the stand because I had to conduct that meeting. It was pretty nerve racking but all went well! I will have to go into more detail when I have more time but it was really cool.

Tornados!

Hello!  This week was quite the week!  We had lots of great opportunities to teach. We were able to mention the stop smoking workshop to a lady and she started it without even having to be taught.  Two of our investigators sons went on the Priest and Laurel activity overnight to Hattiesburg, on the night where the tornados happened a mile away from where they were staying! Hopefully that will be a huge point where they will have learned and progressed because of what they experienced down there!  On Sunday we once again we had 80+ people in the branch! It’s awesome to see what can happen when people get excited and apply themselves to the work.  Many less actives have come back and many investigators are coming!  The Branch President and one of his counselors even got in a home that had told us 3 different times that they didn’t want visits from the church anymore!  Jackson is a great place!  We are so excited to see where it will be in a couple months from now!

Things are going well here!  I have been feeling great and have been enjoying my time here in Jackson. This is probably going to be my last week here!  Jackson has been a good place!  We weren't affected at all by the tornados, some pretty good wind but there wasn’t any damage done in Jackson. Just south of us (in Hattiesburg and Petal) was hit pretty hard!  I am amazed by the snow coming down out back home. I am so jealous.... Don’t have too much fun skiing!

Love you all,

80 people!

Hello everyone!!

This week we were blessed with a whole lot of random things we had to take care of. We had to go to Hattiesburg on a whim, and we also had to do a whole bunch of office work.  So that wasn't too much fun!:))  We were able to still teach quite a bit.  We are making progress with LaKendra and John. They should both be at church on Sunday!

After weeks of hard work by all the missionaries in the branch we had a Sacrament meeting attendance high for the last 5 years of 80 people!  We had to sit in a side room just so we could make enough room for everyone. How awesome is that!?!?!

This morning Elder Smith and I played a round of golf.  Lets just say we were both pretty rusty.  We are going to blame it on the quality of the course though.

All is well here in Mississippi we are enjoying the 70 degree weather!
Love you all!!

Mississippi Snow!!

What a week here in Jackson!!

First off, people in The South are scared of snow and cold weather haha. This past week it got cold for a couple of days. Just barely enough to get some ice/snow to stick to the ground. People down here with this kind of weather are so funny, there was very little that stuck to the ground and everyone was going 35 mph on the free way, they were scared of driving and not very good at it either.  Our apartment complex, we live at the bottom of a hill and on Saturday morning all of the sleet/snow/rain had frozen into a pretty good sheet of ice. There were so many people that were trying to make it up the hill but would get stuck and end up having to park their car or reverse all the way down. It was pretty funny watching a whole bunch of people try to get up it! That day we decided to walk out and about. We walked down the street and there was another hill and there were multiple cars that had fallen off into the ditch, one went nose first... We helped push a few people and helped get them on their way. It was quite a funny couple of days!  It didn't last long because its back up in to 75 degrees again this week!

We had some good experiences teaching as we were able to talk about the importance of church and the reason why it was so reverent and not loud or obnoxious. We compared it to the Saviors sermon on the mount. Watching and learning about His life helps us learn so much about why we do certain things. We have a few investigators that are moving well. We got the lady and her son back on track after she said church was boring. We helped them understand the importance of and true meaning of it.

The gospel is true!

All is well here!  We are going to play bball!  Hope you all are surviving the winter weather back west!

Love,

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year!!!! We had P-Day moved to today!  The holidays were interesting here in Jackson. Kind of funny but our week was good!
Jackson Christmas Tree

As we were trying to go to sleep on Saturday night we had the a good opportunity to fall asleep to the sound of fireworks mixed with some gun shots. What an interesting couple of days here in Jackson haha! They will take any chance they get to shoot their guns. Luckily I had fallen asleep but Elder Smith was woken up and couldn’t go back to sleep because they were getting louder and louder and more frequent all the way up to 12. It sounded like a war zone haha!

We have seen lots of rain but somehow its still a solid 60 degrees outside. We are lucky its not freezing or super hot!!!

We have seen some good miracles in teaching and talking with people. Today we had a 30 minute conversation with a guy in Kroger about the temple, spirit world, and baptisms for the dead. Its fun being down here cause its not different or awkward to talk about that kind of stuff. The South is a good place!!!

The investigators we have are good. We had 2 that were progressing great but they stopped because church was to boring for them.
Baptisms of Troy and Maya!

Alma 34:39
39 Yea, and I also exhort you, my brethren, that ye be watchful unto prayer
continually, that ye may not be led away by the temptations of the devil, that he may not overpower you, that ye may not become his subjects at the last day; for behold, he rewardeth you no good thing.

Hope you have a great week!! Remember the power of prayer!!
